FAQ and contact

We offer two separate support channels: this support page answers common questions; for anything it doesn't solve, suggestions or data requests, write to email support (support.gepgo@gmail.com). We usually reply within 1-2 business days. In the app, Settings → Email support adds your device and version details automatically.

Frequently asked questions

My position doesn't appear, or it says "SEARCHING"

  1. iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services must be on.
  2. For Alpingo Pro choose While Using the App or Always, and turn on Precise Location.
  3. Indoors or in deep valleys a fix can take a few minutes; move somewhere with open sky.

How do I use maps offline?

  1. While online, fit the area you need on the Map tab.
  2. Go to More → Offline Maps, pick Satellite or Topographic and a detail level, then tap Download.
  3. In the field switch the map style to Satellite (offline) or Topo (offline). GPS works without internet.

Very large areas can't be downloaded at the highest detail; zoom in or choose a lower level.

How do I load my own map file (MBTiles, GeoPackage, GeoTIFF, GeoPDF)?

More → Offline Maps → Select file under the matching format. GeoPackage supports Web Mercator (EPSG:3857) tile tables; GeoTIFF supports WGS84, Web Mercator and UTM. GeoPDF support is in beta and files that use compressed object streams may not open.

How do I convert a coordinate to another format?

More → Converter. Type a coordinate in any format (e.g. 32TMS2660563872); the app recognises it and shows all 13 formats. Tap a row to copy it.

Does track recording continue with the screen off?

Yes. When recording starts iOS may ask for "Always" location access; if you allow it, recording continues while the phone is locked. Continuous GPS drains the battery faster, so carry a power bank on long trips.

Proximity alerts don't arrive

Edit the target and turn on Proximity alert, then allow notifications in iOS Settings → Notifications → Alpingo Pro. Alerts while the app is in the background need location access set to Always.

I can't see my teammate in Team Mode

  1. Start Team Mode on both phones with the same team code.
  2. Nearby: keep Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on. Far apart: turn on Sync over the internet on both phones, stay online and be signed in to iCloud in iOS Settings.
  3. iOS Settings → Alpingo Pro → Local Network must be allowed.

How do I report or block someone?

Long-press a message in Chat, or open a member's … menu: Report opens a prefilled email and Block hides their messages, position and shares. You can unblock people from the Team Mode screen. The admin who created the team can remove members with Remove from team.

AR labels are in the wrong place

Calibrate the compass by moving the phone in a figure-eight a few times, away from magnetic objects (cars, metal railings). Targets with an elevation are shown at the right height.

How do I back up my routes and tracks?

Settings → Export everything (GPX) shares all targets, routes and tracks in one file. For a single route or track, use the share button on its card.

How do I change the app language?

The app follows your iPhone's language. To change only Alpingo Pro's language, open Settings → App language and pick a language in iOS Settings.

How do I delete my data?

Settings → Erase all data deletes all targets, routes, tracks, areas, layers and downloaded maps. Deleting the app also removes everything. We hold no data from you on our servers.

Reporting a bug

It helps a lot if your email includes: what you were trying to do, what you expected, what happened, your iPhone model and iOS version. Attach a screenshot or the problematic GPX/map file if you can.
