Summary
Radarvar processes your location on your device to give you alerts. Your location is stored only when you send a report (the location of that report). For speed limits, your approximate area (a few kilometres) is queried from public data services; maps and directions are provided by Apple Maps. There are no ads, no tracking and no third-party analytics.
1. Controller
The controller responsible for your personal data is Ali Can, Bayraktepe Mahallesi, Alsancak Sokak, Kuzey Konutlar B Blok No: 8 Daire: 2, 77200 Merkez/Yalova, Türkiye ("Radarvar"). Contact: support.gepgo@gmail.com.
2. Data we process
- Location: your current position, speed and heading are processed on your device to give camera and speed-limit alerts. Radarvar has no server of its own and does not continuously send your location anywhere.
- Area queries: to look up road speed limits, your approximate area (a box of a few kilometres) is sent to Overpass servers that provide OpenStreetMap data. In Türkiye, the nearest district centre on your route is also queried from the Ministry of Interior's public route service. These queries contain no identifiers. Maps, address search and directions are provided by Apple Maps and are subject to Apple's privacy policy.
- Reports: when you send a report, its type, location, heading and time are stored.
- User identifier: reports and votes are linked to a pseudonymous user ID that Apple iCloud creates specifically for this app. Your name, e-mail address or phone number are never shared with Radarvar.
- Purchase: Radarvar is a paid download from the App Store; payment is handled by Apple. Radarvar has no access to your payment details.
- Preferences (voice alerts, tolerance, etc.) are stored only on your device.
3. Purposes and legal bases
We process this data to provide camera, speed-limit and corridor alerts, to show community reports to other drivers, to assess reports through votes, and to prevent misuse (for example excessive reporting). Where the EU or UK General Data Protection Regulation applies, the legal bases are the performance of our contract with you (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) and our legitimate interest in a reliable, abuse-free service (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
4. Recipients and international transfers
Reports and votes are stored in Apple's iCloud (CloudKit) infrastructure, operated by Apple; its servers may be located outside your country. Reports are shown to other users anonymously, without your identity. The controller is based in Türkiye. Personal data is not sold and is not shared with other third parties unless required by law.
5. Retention
Reports remain visible for between 90 minutes and 180 days depending on their type; expired reports are no longer shown and are deleted periodically. You can delete all reports and votes you have sent at any time in Settings › My data. Deleting the app also deletes your preferences and cached data on the device.
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example in the EU/EEA, the United Kingdom, Australia or California), you may have the right to access your personal data, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to its processing, to data portability, and to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. Contact support.gepgo@gmail.com; we reply within 30 days.
7. Location permission
Radarvar only asks for "While Using the App" permission. If background alerts are on, iOS shows a location indicator in the status bar while the app is in the background, and alerts continue while the screen is locked. Continuous GPS use in the background increases battery consumption.
8. Children
Radarvar is a driving aid and is not directed at children.
